A Cork autism charity has been forced to suspend its registration to new families.

Rainbow Club in Mahon which is at maximum capacity, is calling on the city council to speed up the process of allowing the centre to move to a more permanent location.

Speaking to RedFM News, Rainbow Club CEO Karen O’Mahony says having to turn children with autism way from the service is heartbreaking:

"I've been on that journey, to be isolated and not have the supports that you need. And I think it's very important that we are here for the long term. It's a vital service and it makes a huge difference to parents."
