Management at Cork Airport say over 8,000 people will fly in and out of the airport today.

It comes ahead of one of the busiest Bank Holiday Weekends at the airport since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Management say the airport is almost operating at pre-pandemic levels, with this weekend representing a 95% recovery compared to the same weekend in 2019.

Earlier this week Ryanair announced a new twice weekly Cork to Rome service, bringing to 27 the number of winter routes available at the airport.

Speaking to RedFM News, Communications Manager at Cork Airport, Barry Holland, has this advice for anyone flying over the long weekend:

"We'd strongly recommend passengers intending to travel to allow two hours and to arrive at the airport two hours before their flight is due to depart. If they're checking in a bag, we'd recommend that they allow extra time and to check our website copy airport.com where there will be helpful tips on how to prepare for passenger security screening. We'd also recommend people as well, just to be cognizant as well of the changes in clocks at the weekend with daylight saving time ending and to make sure that they factor that in when they're planning their journey to the airport."
