Construction on the first major solar farm in the country is to begin in Carrigaline.
The Kilmoney 5MW Solar Farm, along with four other farms at Inniscarra, Kanturk, Mallow, and Whitechurch, are expected to be running by October.
These five sites represent an investment of 40 million euro by the Ballintemple-based company, Amarenco.
It was established in 2013 and now has 35 employees in Cork, and over 200 worldwide.
Amarenco aims to operate 20 solar farms across County Cork by 2026 - costing 200 million euro.
