Construction of long-stalled Events Centre expected to start in the second half of the year

Minister Simon Coveney told RedFM News this evening that construction of the 6,000 seater project on the site of the former Beamish and Crawford Brewery on North Main Street is finally due to start following years of setbacks.

The sod was turned in February 2016, however construction inflation, funding issues, a re-design and the pandemic have resulted in years long delays.

It’s expected construction will take at least 18 months and will cost over €90 million.

Speaking to RedFM News on his way into Cork Chamber’s Annual Dinner, Minister Simon Coveney said the completed project will be hugely positive for the city:
