Locals to the Murphy’s Rock amenity have raised concerns about a new housing development which could potentially destroy the area.

A 41-hectare site on the north side of the city is being transferred to the Land Development Agency to build 1000 new homes.

Grainne O’Donnell from the Murphy’s Rock and Bride Valley Support group told RedFM News there is other land in the area which could be developed instead:

"If you're from Dublin Hill, Faranree, Kilcully, Old Whitechurch Road, this only greenspace that is accessible to you is this space, any time of the day if you go down there you will find people walking down there."
