Cobh is to be gifted a 12 foot high sculpture
Artist Ray Lonsdale from Durham in the UK was commissioned by the owners of Belvelly Castle, Gary and Anne Wilson to create the piece which is being gifted by the couple to the harbour town.
The 12ft high metal structure depicts a sea shanty bearded singing sailor playing the accordion while singing 'The Holy Ground' with his foot resting on a stool - the song is sometimes referred as the Cobh Sea Shanty.
