Christmas lights in Clonakilty may not happen this year.
The Echo report that that Cork County Council will no longer be directly responsible for the lights, instead giving a €10,000 grant in order for businesses and residents to look after the lights themselves.
However it's believed this is less than a third of what is needed to run the lights in the west Cork town.
A similar scheme was introduced in Skibbereen last year.
