The clean-up after Storm Betty begins this morning - with the brunt of its force having being felt in the South East of the country.

However, Cork did not escape unscathed, with Carrigaline, Ballyvolane, Dunmanway, Roches Point, Timoleague, and low lying quays in the city all experiencing flooding.

A number of trees were brought down in Glanmire.

145 customers are without power in Curraglass with ESB Networks saying its crews expect to have the electricity supply restored by 4 o'clock this afternoon..

Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather says the worst of the storm has passed:

"Yes, by the time most people have woken up this morning, the worst of Storm Betty will have cleared. But obviously it b will have been very rough overnight so you will have storm damage, possibly some trees down, some flooding as well. So people should take care early this morning".

Road Safety Authority Spokesperson, Sarah O'Connor has this advice for drivers who may meet flooded roads this morning:

"The first piece of advice is about really making sure that you don't drive through floods. You have no idea how deep floodwaters can be. So if you come across a road that flooded, it's important that you don't continue further down that road. It's really important for motorists to obey the diversion signs and whatever flooding signs are out there and make sure that they follow that guidance".
