The number of claims relating to uninsured drivers has grown in Cork.

The Motor Insurers' Bureau of Ireland's figures show the number of claims from these accidents went up by 19 per cent in 2023.

There were 141 claims in the county in 2023 compared to 118 the year before.

MIBI Chief Executive, David Fitzgerald says most claims are in cities but other counties saw the biggest rise in claims:

"So the largest number of claims are in the the big population centers like Dublin, Cork and Limerick. And in terms of in terms of the jump, we're seeing a significant increase in Mayo, Meath and Kildare."
