Cork City Council has crews on standby as Cork remains under a status yellow rain alert
The weather warning is in effect until 11pm however Met Eireann expects slightly less rainfall today compared to yesterday
Council crews are currently out checking roads and closing them where necessary due to flooding
Speaking to RedFM News Cork City Council Engineer David Joyce says he expects road closures across the western part of the city again today
"What's happening is the amount of rain falling is going straight into the rivers off of the saturated ground, and that means that the water is coming through the city quite quickly. So it's to the west of the city we expect most of the problems - the west and maybe the north northeast as well in Glanmire, where there were some road closures there yesterday as well. So we will be looking at all these areas again today, and as required, we will close roads"
