Chronic exposure to a chemical agent may have caused the fish kills on the River Blackwater in North Cork.

However the Environmental Protection Agency has found no link between the kill and discharges from nearby businesses.

Inland Fisheries Ireland says it's still investigating what caused the death of 46,000 fish on a 30km section of the river.

Tests have also found no evidence of bacterial infection, systemic disease, or specific viral infections.
