Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment says it welcomes city and county councillors objecting plans for the proposed waste incinerator in Ringaskiddy.
Indaver is looking to advance the 200 million euro plan, which was first proposed back in 2001, while public consultation for the planning closed yesterday.
Speaking to RedFM News, Linda Fitzpatrick from CHASE says an incinerator doesn’t belong at the proposed site:
"We are really hoping that they have grounds to give it a very firm rejection, the County Councillors and the City Councillors joining together is a real unified move, it shows joined up thinking of the city and the Cork Harbour as one unit and allowing it to reach its full potential and that the incinerator doesn't play a part in any of that."
