Calls have been made for the use of compulsory purchase orders in the development of the Cork-Kinsale greenway to be lifted
Independent Ireland TD Michael Collins says he will be raising landowners concerns when Transport Infrastructure Ireland comes before the Oireachtas Transport Committee at the end of next month
He says farmers and landowners are welcoming the greenway and are willing to negotiate on routes through their land but the threat of CPO's need to be removed
Speaking to RedFM News Deputy Collins says farmers fear their farms will be left unworkable
"It might, in some instances, take it right through your farm yards, it might take it right through your farm to split your farm in two. But maybe if the CPO wasn't hanging over a person's head, they could sit down and say, okay, what about down at the bottom of the road? The same road, take away the ditch or a slightly different route. But the problem we have is the word CPO"
