The President of Cork Business Association is calling on DAA to move some flights from Dublin Airport to Cork in a bid to tackle massive queues in Dublin.

DAA says over 1,000 people missed their flights from Dublin yesterday due to a lack of security staff.

Ryanair have once again called for the army to be deployed to help ease the long queues, however the idea is likely to be dismissed by the airport and the government.

Dublin Airport Authority will have daily meetings with the Department of Transport and has been tasked with coming up with solutions by tomorrow ahead of the bank holiday weekend.

Speaking to RedFM News, CBA President Kevin Herlihy says moving some short haul flights to Cork Airport will make a difference:

"I feel that with 50,000 people flying out of Dublin on Saturday that if they could divert some of those flights to depart from Cork, it would absolutely make great sense because Cork Airport is underutilised, and indeed all the other airports such as Shannon and Waterford, Kerry, they're all underutilised and I think that they should certainly consider moving some of the flights to other airports."
