A call has been made to extend the consultation period on the Bus Connects plan for Cork.

The second round of public consultations on the €600m programme is underway, and will run until May 25th.

Peter Horgan of the Labour Party in Cork City has called on the National Transport Authority to extend the deadline, in order to allow traffic modelling to be taken into account.

"We need to see, and I've asked for it again is for the extension of the public consultation period, so we can all see the transport modelling that's been done.

"The Deputy CEO of the NTA said, no, that's not going to happen, because they don't have the data and it's not their intention.

"I'll be contacting my colleagues in the Labour Party nationally to put pressure on the Minister for this tonight, and we will be pushing this matter.

"We need to see the transport modelling and we need to see the extension of the public consultation, or at least another third round of consultation before the statutory round."
