An article which appeared in the Echo about the Breakfast Club in operation at Coláiste Éamann Rís prompted an act of kindness from an anonymous donor
The school operates a breakfast club each school morning for it's 600 plus students - where students who wish to get together and are given fruit, cereals and other nutritional foods by the school.
At 11am break the school provides breakfast snacks like croissants for anyone who couldn't make the early breakfast club.
When the club was highlighted by the Echo last Saturday a 76 year old man sent a letter to the school along with a cash donation for the breakfast club explaining that he was 42 years sober on Saturday thanks to Alcoholics Anonymous and for that reason he wished to make a donation to the breakfast club.
In his letter the anonymous donor said "we need our children to grow up healthy and without fear. I was lost when I was 16. I’m 76 now and I’m still growing up"
Principal Aron Wolfe said the note means a lot to the school community and he expressed his gratitude to the donor.
