The body of a man in his 30's was recovered from the River Lee last night.
A multi-operational rescue was launched at Pope's Quay at around 7pm when two men entered the water to swim to the other side of the river.
One of the men made it out of the water safely and following 1a search by rescue crews, the other man was recovered from the water.
Meanwhile, Cork City Fire Brigade attended the scene of a home on fire at the Coal Quay this morning.
The blaze at the apartment was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
