The HSE doesn't care about the people of Blarney.
That's according to a Cork Councillor who says vulnerable people in the area can't be expected to travel over 7 kilometres for a GP service.
Medical card and GP card holders in Blarney received letters from the HSE yesterday informing them they must move to Broadlane Family Practice in Blackpool.
The local service was withdrawn last year and an interim replacement service will remain in place until the 30th of June and the HSE say it's not been possible to arrange for the GMS GP service to remain in Blarney town.
Speaking to RedFM News, Councillor Thomas Gould says the people of Blarney have been misled by the HSE:
"Patients contacted me outlining their disappointment and anger at the HSE 's decision and described this as a major loss for health care in the Blarney area. I have written to the HSE to asking them to provide GP services for Blarney, in Blarney."
