Bantry town was hit by flooding today after torrential rain in the early hours of this morning
Locals were left relying on the fire brigade to pump the water out of their homes and businesses
They have expressed huge frustration at the delay in the delivery of the culvert and flood relief schemes which would alleviate the town's flooding problem
Speaking to RedFM News Local Independent Ireland Councillor Danny Collins says it has been a tough day for the people of Bantry
"It's another hard day for Bantry, to be quite honest. This has been happening now for thirty, forty years,. I know there's a flood relief scheme in progress but we're hearing it will be at least 2030/2031 before we see any works carried out, and there's a design being done up for our culvert scheme, but that I believe won't start until 2027"
