An August heatwave will see temperatures soaring this week, possibly reaching as high as 28 degrees.
Apart from a few light showers in the west, most areas will remain dry.
Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather said the fine weather is expected to last until Friday.
"At the moment it looks like high pressure will dominate right up until Friday, a little bit of uncertainty what happens after that but some weather maps do show defined spells continue into next weekend, with very little rainfall for most of the country for the next seven days."
