Applications for an affordable housing scheme on Boherboy Road has been delayed for a week due to the high level of demand.
There have been more than 4,000 visits recorded to the website for the Newton Heights housing scheme with 154 dwellings available.
A spokesperson for the City Council says the "go live" date for the Lotamore scheme would now be deferred until next Tuesday, August 23rd.
Local politicans have hit out at the system saying this shows that this scheme is already oversubscribed before it’s even launched.
The Echo reports that the Department of Housing says that, under the Affordable Housing Act, each local authority assessed the level of demand for affordable housing in its area and planned provision accordingly.
Under the City Council’s Housing Delivery Action Plan, 5,671 social and affordable homes will be delivered across the city over the next five years.
