The National Parks and Wildlife Service has confirmed no further Asian Hornet Nests have been discovered in Cork since last week.

It follows the capture of a single hornet in Cork county yesterday.

Several of the invasive species have been caught in recent weeks, with fears more nests could be found.

Speaking to RedFM News, chair of County Cork Beekeepers, Eleanor Attridge, says hundreds of Hornet queens can be raised in a nest

"It's trying to track and trace these nests and to eradicate them before the queens are thrown out, is the best solution. That colony that was found in Cork last week, they're going to have to take that away and see what stage the larval development was at before they can make a statement on it"
