Aiken Promotions has said Cork will see more big acts in the future, and that the availability of facilities such as Páirc Uí Chaoimh and the success of the Live at the Marquee gigs have helped to put Cork on the map as a live music destination.

Elton John is set to play at the home of Cork GAA on Friday night as part of his Farewell tour. The singer is no stranger to Cork, having played at the Marquee in the past.

Over 30,000 fans are expected to descend upon Páirc Uí Chaoimh this Friday, for what will likely be the pop superstar's last ever appearance in Ireland.

Jim Clarke, Event Co-Ordinator with Aiken Promotions, says Elton John will be on stage promptly at 8pm:

"The advice is please come punctually, doors will open at 6pm. Elton is punctual, he will be on stage at 8, so we would encourage people to get here as soon as they can. Also, we don't know what the weather forecast is going to be like, but people should be prepared for whatever the weather is. A plastic mac is easily put into the handbag or backpack."
