A young girl from Glanmire has become the 4th child to die this year from a rare form of Strep A.

A report in the examiner explains how Saoirse O'Sullivan, a fourth class pupil at Scoil Naomh Iosaf in Riverstown, Glanmire passed away on Monday.

Yesterday heath chiefs confirmed that she had contracted Strep A prior to her death.

Large crowds attended Saoirse's funeral yesterday and parents of the children in her school were notified that her death was linked to Strep A.
