A number of recommendations have been made to ensure better governance at RTE, including removing confidentiality clauses.

The Public Accounts Committee is also formally advising the broadcaster comes under the remit of the State auditor.

The PAC also says side deals shouldn't be allowed at RTE, and there should be a clear policy for staff using social media for promotional reasons.

Its Chair Brian Stanley says taxpayers won’t put up with any more confidential deals

"You can't undo a lot of thing is the past, but this Committee and this report is a "forward looking" report  about the future. Any agreements from here on out, in terms of  terms and conditions and that, shouldn't have confidentiality clauses in it and people who are on those types of salary should expect them. And finally I would say  that I don't think the public would tolerate it"
