A man who pleaded guilty to the murder of a woman in Doneraile in 2021 has died

A man who pleaded guilty to the murder of 72-year-old Mary O'Keeffe in Doneraile in Cork in 2021 has died in hospital.

63-year-old Michael Leonard of Hillcrest, Glenosheen, Kilmallock, County Limerick was sentenced to life in prison in December 2022.

He had been diagnosed with cancer and died at the Mercy University Hospital on Tuesday.

Mary O'Keeffe was murdered on the 4th of February 2021, when Mr. Leonard threw two gallons of petrol into a car and set it on fire at a wooded area in Doneraile.
