He got into difficulty in Ring Harbour near Clonakilty yesterday evening.

The Courtmacsherry Lifeboat and Coastguard 115 Helicopter came to his aid just after 5pm, upstream past North Ring Pier on the Clonakilty estuary.

The man needed immediate attention and he was successfully airlifted from the boat to the helicopter and has been taken to Cork University Hospital.

Courtmacsherry RNLI Voluntary Lifeboat Operations Manager Brian O' Dwyer is reminding the public to call the rescue services at 112 or 999 in the case of an emergency.
