SeniorLine say family rows often come to the surface at Christmas as families come together over the Festive period

The service has been dealing with more serious problems since the pandemic with a marked increase in depression, anxiety and loneliness among many callers.

SeniorLine is a peer-to-peer service with trained older volunteers supporting people in their own age group. The line demonstrates the value of active listening, giving people time to talk and then discussing together what options the caller may have.

Callers may also be referred to a range of specialist services, including financial and safeguarding services and organisations dealing with mental health, marital problems, bereavement and many more.

SeniorLine received over 27,000 calls in 2023. The service is open from 10am to 10pm daily Freefone 1800 80 45 91
