8,500 properties are lying empty across the city and county.
New CSO data has revealed the county has the highest number of vacant homes of any local authority in the country with more than 6 thousand 600 homes empty.
The high number of vacancies come as 747 adults were stuck in emergency accommodation in Cork according to the latest figures.
