The Chief Executive of Cork City Council says the city must not have a car focused future.
Iarnrod Eireanns’s proposals for 8 new train stations across the county, a new depot and the electrification of the Cork rail network have opened for public consultation.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cork City Council CEO Valerie O’Sullivan says the project will be transformative for commuters:
"The city won't be a car focused city in the futre, it's not sustainable. We're set to grow to 335,000 people and it is a case of build it and they will come. If the infrastructure is there, cars will be left at home and five of these new stations are in the city which is fantastic."
