The Government will be asked to address the chronic shortage of taxis when industry reps meet with politicians today.

56 per cent of requested trips hailed online in Cork can go unfulfilled at peak times according to research by taxi app Bolt.

Fine Gael Senator Tim Lombard will host a presentation from the Taxis for Ireland Coalition today

"I just can't believe that when you go to get a taxi licence now it's the same old test where you need to know every street in every county. We all have a phone and can type in exactly where we  are supposed to go.   This geography based test is like something from a another period, so we need to change and move with the times"
