43-year-old man found not guilty for murdering his brother by reason of insanity in Carrigaline remanded in care

A 43-year-old man found not guilty for murdering his brother by reason of insanity in Carrigaline has been remanded in care.

John Murphy Junior of Seaview Avenue, Carrigaline went on trial last month charged with the murder of his younger brother Shane Murphy and attempted murder of his father John Weeshie Murphy on March 26th 2022.

The court previously heard that John Murphy Junior was being treated for paranoid schizophrenia and was under the influence of “airwave manipulation” and he was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

He is continuing to be treated at the Central Medical Hospital.
