4 weeks of flushing works will commence around College Road from tonight.
Uisce Eireann says Donovans Road, O’Donovan Rossa Road, Gillabbey Park, Connaught Avenue, College Road - from Donovans Road to Gillabbey Street- Sunview Terrace and College Square will be affected in different phases over the next month between 10pm and 4am.
Speaking to RedFM News, Brian O'Leary from Uisce Eireann says the works are part of the water providers plans to improve water discolouration in the city:
"Mains replacement is obviously the ultimate, but that will take multiple decades, multiple funding periods, flushing has been very successful as well we have flushed and deeply cleaned 15% of the worst areas of the network, that has that been very effective and the sampling and testing as well shows us that this is working."
