38 year old man remanded in custody following Cork hammer attack

A 38-year-old man has been remanded in custody in connection with a hammer attack , on a man and his mother in Cork city on the 26th March.

The incident left a man, in his 20s, in a critical condition in hospital for several days and his mother, in her 60s, also suffered serious injuries.

Ian Horgan, formerly of Macroom but currently of No Fixed Abode, was charged with a total of four separate offences before Cork District Court this morning, including assault causing serious harm and aggravated burglary.

The incident took place at a house at McCurtain Villas on College Road.

Judge Olann Kelleher remanded Horgan in custody to appear at Cork District Court on the 5th August by video link and granted Horgan free legal aid.
