2 teenage boys have been arrested after a high speed chase in a stolen car across Cork and Waterford.

Gardaí contained the vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the N25 at Midleton at around 8 o'clock last night.

Gardaí on patrol say they observed a car in the Dungarvan area carrying a number of young people.

After checking the vehicle it was revealed the car had been stolen the previous night.

The driver of the car didn't stop when directed to do so by Gardaí who then launched a containment operation on the N25 heading from Waterford to Cork.

Gardaí in Midleton were called for assistance and the vehicle was intercepted at the Lakeview Roundabout heading eastbound.

Gardaí say the offending car crashed into 4 parked vehicles during the operation.

No injuries were reported.

Two teenage boys were arrested and are currently detained at a Garda station in Waterford.

In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí said:

"Gardaí arrested two males following a managed containment operation across the Waterford and Cork County divisions on Tuesday, 6th May 2025.

Shortly before 7:30pm, Gardaí on patrol observed a car in the Dungarvan area with a number of youths on board. Following a check on the vehicle using the Garda Mobility App, it was revealed that it had been subject of an unauthorised taking in Cork city the previous night, 5th May 2025.

The vehicle failed to stop when directed to do so by Gardaí and a managed containment operation was put in place on the N25 towards Cork.

With the assistance of Gardaí in Midleton, the vehicle was intercepted and subsequently brought to a halt at Lakeview roundabout.

During the course of the operation, the offending vehicle collided with four stationary vehicles. No injuries were reported.

Two male juveniles were arrested and are currently detained at a Garda station in the Waterford division under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984."
