14th Fastnet Film Festival Award Ceremony Held In Schull

The 14th Fastnet Film Festival Award Ceremony took place last night at the Schull Harbour Hotel and was presented by Festival Patron Gerard Stembridge.

The short film ‘Simon’, directed by Peter J McCarthy & Ben Conway took home two prizes: €5,000 for Best Irish Film and €500 for Best Drama.

‘Finding Home’, an animation directed by Maria Stanisheva from Bulgaria took home €5,000 for Best International Film.

Winner of the €25,000 Puttnam Script Award was announced as Rachel Walshe Actor/Writer/Director with her script ‘Grando’.

Rachel will receive €25,000 towards production of a 10 minute short film to be shot on Cork’s Wild Atlantic Way and the Premiere of the resultant film will be screened at the festival in Schull in May 2024.

The Fastnet Film Festival, which took place from the 24th to the 28th of  May saw thousands of filmmakers from all over the world visit Schull over the five days.
