The incident happened at Dursey Island at around 2pm today when the French flagged boat struck a rock.
A Coast Guard rescue helicopter was scrambled and Irish two boats - Girl Jane and Celtic Dawn- rushed to the scene 12 nautical miles from Castletownbere.
Nine men were removed from the boat by the helicopter, while 5 remain on board to help with efforts to remove the boat from the rock.
