Over 1,000 patients were treated on trolleys at Cork University Hospital during the month of March

Nationally 9,856 patients went without a hospital bed last month according to the Irish Nurses and National Midwives Organisation.

The union says their members who are rostered to work this Easter are more concerned about the increasing risks associated with the provision of services in constantly overcrowded and a progressively under-staffed service.

The union has raised the impact the HSE recruitment moratorium is having at the Workplace Relations Commission and says progress was made and talks will continue
