A Cork Green Party Councillor has described the recent online racism levelled at him as "very upsetting and exhausting"
Councillor Honore Kamegni moved to Ireland from Cameroon in 2002 and says this is not the first time he has been racially abused online but it intensified during the local elections
He has reported it to gardai and says he stopped posting on X last week as a result
However he told the Neil Prendeville Show these online comments will not prevent him from doing his work as a local councillor
"All these hateful comments, honestly it's very upsetting and exhausting but I want to be very clear that I was elected by the people to represent them and these kind of online comments will not deter me from doing my job as a councillor"
