Concern's being raised there 'isn't a big dent' in the hospital waiting list numbers.

The Irish Patients Association says the latest figures show a little bit of an improvement but not enough.

National Treatment Purchase Fund stats show over 625 and a half thousand people are waiting for a first hospital outpatient consultation.

Chairman the Irish Patients Association Stephen McMahon says patients haven't seen much movement in wait times:

"For example, the number of patients that are waiting for operations, the average wait time for them over the last three months has remained static at 7.1 months, versus there have been an improvement since the start of the year. But really it seems to be in a bit of a rut for the last three months".
