The charity Alone is urging older people to take extra care during the cold snap.
CEO Sean Moynihan says they should prioritise HEAT and staying warm, for the coming week.
He's also asking the community to lend a hand where possible:
"This week the message is heating. So I think the reality is older people, and they'll know themselves who they are, who might have health conditions, be on their own, have been ill this year, really need to prioritise heating - because that's what they need this week, and the rest of it, if they need support to reach out to us or reach out to others and we'll support them with any any challenges that might follow".
