Criminals who prey on vulnerable people seeking housing need to be fined heavily.
That’s according to Labour Senator Laura Harmon who is welcoming a bill to criminalise advertising rental accommodation in exchange for sex being debated in the Dáil.
Speaking to RedFM News, the former Executive Director for the Irish Council for International Students says people who are desperate to find a place to live can fall victim to these dangerous ads:
"There are adds running across the country, unfortunately, predators advertising for sex instead of rent, and this is affecting vulnerable people women, we know that 5% of women have seen these ads or they've been directly offered one of these ads."
