New short-term let regulations won't be implemented.

Aontú says the Government's plans to reform the Airbnb sector have to be scrapped as it didn't stick to EU rules.

It claims it's because the Housing Minister failed to notify the EU, so the Bill won't be brought in.

Aontú Leader Peadar Tóibín says it's unacceptable this has happened when people need long-term accommodation:

"It's an incredible situation - that mistakes, at this stage, are being made in terms of short-term lets. There are multiples of short-term lets available in our towns and cities than there are long-term lets. and it's long-term lets that we need for families to be able to live in. And it's just in unforgivable that the government would, through incompetency, get this wrong".
