Gate Cinemas Launch Loyalty Card

Gate Cinemas is the first cinema group in Cork to launch a loyalty card
scheme!

Despite the recession, cinema attendance is on the increase, with over 1.5
million people going to their local cinema in March alone. Though last year
saw a small dip in takings for cinema operators, 2010 promises to buck this
trend and it's mainly down to the pulling power of this year's movie
releases and the increasing demand for 3-D films. And it's not just Irish
audiences that are flocking to the cinema in big numbers; attendance is up
all over Europe.

The scheme is being operated by Gate Cinemas and includes Cinema World in
Douglas, The Gate Multiplex on North Main Street, The Gate in Mallow and The
Gate in Midleton. Both Mallow and Middleton cinemas are installing digital
3-D screens to give their customers the option of watching movies in this
eye popping format.

"This is a great time to launch a reward scheme" says Margaret Greene,
Manager of Gate Cinemas and Cinema World in Douglas. We have had some great
films recently, like Avatar which has brought people back to the cinema who
wouldn't normally go. In fact, Avatar was the highest-grossing film in
history and the all time number-one film in the Irish box office. It played
for 12 weeks as opposed to the usual run of 3 weeks."

There are some great new releases coming to appeal to audiences of all ages
such as Sex in the City 2, Shrek 4, Toy Story 3 and a new Twilight movie,
Eclipse. The next installment of the hugely successful Harry Potter series
will also hit the screens later this year.

You can get your loyalty card at any of the participating cinemas and redeem
it as you use it. Regular cinema goers will be rewarded with free popcorn,
drinks and cinema tickets.
