Utility Hikes Will Affect Single Parents and Those On Minimum Wage
Single parent families and those on minimum wage across Cork will be the most seriously impacted by the rise in energy prices.
That’s according to the Cork Branch of the St. Vincent De Paul who say these increases will push families, who are already struggling, further into the poverty trap.
Flogas, Pinergy, and Prepay Power have all announced they will be raising utility costs on the 1st of December.
SSE Airtricity and Bord Gais Egergy raised their prices on the 1st of November and following on from these latest announcements Electric Ireland will follow suit in December.
Speaking to RedFM News SVP’s Brendan Dempsey says these increases will cause huge problems for families across the city and county ahead of the winter months:
