Private rented properties inspected by Cork County Council failing to meet standards
96% of private rented properties inspected by Cork County Council over the past 18 months failed to meet minimum standards
That's according to a recent report which shows 733 out of 756 inspections failed.
A recent Primetime Investigates Programme highlighted the overcrowding, dangerous, and sub-standard living conditions for tenants in private rented accommodation.
One property in Cobh was included in the programme and showed the tenant was without hot water, a shower, cooking and washing facilities.
Speaking to RedFM News Councillor Diarmaid O'Cadhla says it's the role of Cork County Council to ensure minimum standards are met.
