People with flu like symptoms urged to avoid Emergency Departments
The advice comes as hospitals can't cope with a surge in the number of patients presenting due to an outbreak of the flu.
Strict visitor restrictions are in operation at the Mercy University Hospital in an effort to control the infection and protect patients from further infection.
People with flu-like symptoms are being advised to visit their GP in the first instance rather than present at the hospital's ED.
Speaking to RedFM News Clinical Director at the Mercy Dr Kieran O'Connor has this advice for listeners.
