Cork Woman Says She Owes Her Life To The Rape Crisis Centre
A Cork woman whose father has been jailed after years of sexual abuse says she owes her life to the Rape Crisis Centre.
Amy Barrett and her sister Melissa O’Keefe were repeatedly attacked as children in their family home in Oakhill, Youghal in the 1980s.
Yesterday 68-year-old retired soldier, Jerry O’Keefe, was handed a 10 year sentence for his crimes.
Both sisters waived their right to anonymity in the hope of convincing other abuse survivors to come forward.
Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Amy says she is speaking out as she hopes it will help others to break their silence
