Census Reveals Hundreds Of Carers Across Cork Under Age Of 15

Census 2016 has revealed that there are 468 carers in Cork aged under 15 years

The figures show that nationally there are nearly 4,000 children who are classed as carers in this country amd half of them are under the age of 10 

The Family Carers Ireland organisation believes that the figures could be even higher as many people don't identify themselves as carers until they are in crisis... 

The group says these children are saving the State billions of euro through unpaid work with the majority of them providing two hours of care a day, seven days a week
