Elbow Announce Support Act For Live At The Marquee
Elbow are set to play Live At The Marquee on 21st June.
elbow today announced that Jealous of the Birds, the project of hotly tipped songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Naomi Hamilton from Armagh, will open for them on the night.
Naomi Hamilton’s debut album Parma Violets, released in May, matches introspective indie-folk with fiery post-punk. Beautifully crafted songs have been given contrasting arrangements, veering from stripped-down acoustic guitar to full-band indie-rock anthems, all overlaid by Naomi’s compelling layered vocals. Equal parts light and shade, the songs are poignant and vulnerable, bursting with honesty and raw passion. Describing her music she has said; “My only hope is that the songs sound like a real friend talking.”
elbow’s story is one of the most extraordinary in contemporary music. Over twenty years and seven studio albums, elbow have achieved many of the accolades that mark out a successful band. Their cabinet boasts two Ivor Novellos, a Mercury Music Prize, a BRIT award for Best British Band. elbow remain the only band to secure four consecutive 9/10 album reviews from the NME and their releases have been a permanent presence in the charts since the release of debut album, ‘Asleep In The Back’ in 2001.
The highlights on this long musical journey are so numerous as to be beyond listing. Standout moments bring to mind Glastonbury Festival’s sunset slot with a trio of performances on the Pyramid Stage regarded by some as amongst ‘the all time greats’.
elbow are assured of their place in the halls of music history.
elbow released their seventh studio album 'Little Fictions’ earlier this year.
